The first winner of the GAC-NRC Research Press, Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, Best Paper Award was announced on May 25, 2009, at the annual GAC Luncheon. The award went to Christelle Not, Claude Hillaire-Marcel, Bassam Ghaleb, Leonid Polyak, and Dennis Darby for their paper entitled: 210Pb-226Ra-230Th systematics in very low sedimentation rate sediments from the Mendeleev Ridge (Arctic Ocean).
An upcoming special issue of CJES (early 2010) will be dedicated to the synthesis of work from many Lithoprobe subsurface studies across Canada over the last couple of decades. It centres on the investigation of lithospheric and upper mantle structures and their evolution using various geophysical techniques and geodynamical modeling.

Dr. Greenough is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan. He specializes in the trace element geochemistry of mantle-derived rocks but has published papers in many fields of earth sciences including igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochronology, isotope geochemistry, geoarchaeology, and biogeochemistry.
