The October 2009 issue of the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering is a special issue in honour of Professor M. Selim Yalin (1925 – 2007).
The December 2009 issue of the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering is a special issue on biological air treatment, originally intended for publication in the Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science.

Contents
Published since 1974, this monthly publication is the official journal of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. It contains articles on environmental engineering, hydrotechnical engineering, structure engineering, construction engineering, engineering mechanics, and engineering materials, and a history of civil engineering. Contributors include recognized researchers and practitioners in industry, government, and academe. New developments in engineering design and construction are also featured.
Please note that effective January 2009, papers accepted for publication in the Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science will be published in a special section in the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering.

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering has chosen the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering as its principal medium of publication of engineering papers.

Dr. Don Mavinic — The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Dr. Mavinic is full professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of British Columbia and Head of the university's Environmental Engineering group. He is a Professional Engineer in British Columbia, as well as a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He has published more than 200 papers and technical reports — more than half of them in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Tarek Sayed – The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Dr. Sayed is a full professor of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Director of the UBC Bureau of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Freight Security engineering office (BITSAFS-Engineering). He has several prestigious awards including the appointment as a UBC Distinguished Scholar and the Transportation Association of Canada Gilchrist Medal. He has published more than 180 technical publications focusing on the areas of road design, road safety, and traffic management. Dr. Sayed is a licensed Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
