No part of the NRC Research Press electronic journals may be reproduced, stored, or transmitted in any form or by any means, without the written permission of the publisher, except as stated below.

Under the Canadian Copyright Act, individuals may download or print single copies of articles for personal research or study. Any person may reproduce short excerpts (<100 words) from articles in the journals for any purpose that respects the moral rights of authors, provided that the source is fully acknowledged. Publishing policy

The National Research Council Act confers on the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) the mandate to publish scientific and technical information.

The objective of NRC Research Press is to publish high-quality scientific and engineering journals and monographs. The research journals and monographs published by NRC provide scientists and engineers in Canada and around the world with a means to communicate with their peers in the international research community. The Editors and NRC Research Press are committed to producing high-quality international publications, thereby making a Canadian contribution to the world's research literature. [more]

Authors' rights

As of 2009, copyright in all articles in NRC Research Press journals remains with the authors. All articles published previously are copyright National Research Council Canada or its licensors (see Copyright). [more]

Conditions of use

NRC Research Press grants the Subscriber and authorized users at the Subscriber's institution the right to access the electronic version of those NRC Research Press journal volumes for which the Subscriber maintains an electronic subscription.

It is a condition of receiving access to the electronic journals that any person who violates either the copyright or the restrictions on distribution, or who condones such acts, may be deprived of future access, including access to back issues, without compensation or refund, while NRC retains the further right to any legal remedies that may be available.
