Transformation of NRC Research Press Over the next year, a new not-for-profit corporation will be created for the NRC Research Press journals and services. The National Research Council of Canada and senior management of NRC Research Press are working to ensure that this new entity will continue to provide a viable Canadian option for publishing Canadian and international research, support our Canadian scientific societies and develop new scholarly publishing practices and technologies. Therefore, the mission and objectives of this new corporate entity will remain largely the same as before.[more]

Botany (formerly the Canadian Journal of Botany) and the Canadian Journal of Forest Research have each been selected as one of the DBIO 100, the 100 most influential journals in biology and medicine over the last 100 years as voted by the BioMedical & Life Sciences Division of the Special Libraries Association on the occasion of its centennial.

NRC Research Press is pleased to announce a new open access option to published research articles. OpenArticle allows individual authors or their funding agencies to sponsor open availability of their articles on the journal Web site at an initial subsidized price of $3000. [more]

Open access compliance

NRC Research Press journals are compliant with open access policies of top international granting bodies, including the US National Institutes of Health, the Wellcome Trust, the UK Medical Research Council, the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale in France, and others. The Press allows authors extensive rights to archive pre-prints and post-prints of their manuscripts (6 months after publication). According to the SHERPA project on open access, NRC Research Press is a "green" publisher, offering authors the highest level of archiving rights.
